Biomedical Engineering Research PhD Scholarship
A PhD scholarship is available for an Honours or equivalent graduate in Biomedical Science, chemistry, electrical engineering, biomedical engineering or related discipline to study tissue engineering at Swinburne University, Melbourne, Australia.
The successful student will contribute to a multidisciplinary project through developing tissue engineering constructs for biomedical applications using cutting edge microfabrication technology and biomaterial synthesis techniques. Research training will be provided for the project, particular consideration will be given to applicants with appropriate experimental research experience in mammalian/stem cell culture or microfabrication.
The research student will be primarily located at Swinburne University, Hawthorn campus (Melbourne, Australia). The research student will be undertaking research full time.
The project will be supervised by Dr. Peggy Chan. Both local and international applicants are welcome to apply.
The scholarship provide a tax-free stipend for three years for a Doctoral research degree. International candidate with a strong track record will receive a fee waiver.

Selection Criteria
• The candidate must hold qualification and experience equal to an Australian First Class Bachelor of Honours degree.
• The candidate with research background in one of the following fields are preferred: bioengineering, electrical engineering, microfabrication, chemistry, mammalian cell culture, stem cell biology, tissue engineering, biomaterials.
• The candidate must have experience in conducting scientific experiments.
• Applicants with publication record are preferred.
• Applicants who have completed the equivalent of Swinburne University’s Master of Research degree or other 2 year Masters degree with a major research component with excellent results are preferred.
• International applicants must demonstrate a high level of proficiency in English language.
